Methodology

The figures come from the reports that Danish issuers of listed securities must file in the EU's machine-readable ESEF format (European Single Electronic Format). They are collected from filings.xbrl.org, which gathers filings from the national registers. A report typically arrives there some weeks after the company publishes it, so the latest figures can lag the company's own announcement.

The key figures are the standard IFRS items for the whole group: revenue (Revenue), operating profit (ProfitLossFromOperatingActivities), net profit (ProfitLoss), basic earnings per share, equity, total assets and cash flow from operating activities. Figures broken down by segment, region or product are not included. Where a later report restates an earlier period, the restated figures are shown. A financial year is a year-long period ending on the company's own year-end; the rolling twelve-month figures some interim reports give are not counted as one. Banks and insurers report no revenue, so their pages show the figures they have.

Amounts are shown in the currency each company reports in. Some filings tag their figures with the wrong currency; where the filing itself or the company's earlier filings show that, the figures are shown in the currency the company actually reports in. In the size and profit rankings, amounts in other currencies are converted to Danish kroner at the year's average rate from Eurostat. The rankings cover companies that report earnings per share (in practice, companies with listed shares) and their latest financial year ending within the past 18 months. Growth compares revenue with the year before in the company's own currency and includes only companies with revenue above DKK 500m, and at least DKK 250m the year before. Companies that have issued only bonds have a page but are not ranked.

Names are shown as registered, in ordinary capitalisation rather than capitals. The figures are checked daily.
